Cuba Experience

La Habana – Cuba (March 2023)

Corona forced us to stop traveling. Forced Adam and I to delay our inevitable visit to Cuba by four years.

Cuba is one of those destinations on the bucket list of many photographers. Street photographers, travel photographers, any photographer.

And when we came to Havana, it did not disappoint us. Purely because of its people. Despite the extremely tough situation they are living in, they always light you up with their happiness, with their smiles.

We were blessed to find two talented local photographers, Alfonso Blanco and Chino Arcos, that walked with us through the streets. They knew every corner, every place, every one. They brought us to places we had not ever dreamt we could visit: from local houses to boxing training sessions, underground gyms or even ballet rehearsals. But not the typical, touristy locations, yet authentic situations from friends and people they knew in the city.

So rather than taking a photo trip, we got a incredible culture immersion instead. We had the chance to spend hours talking with locals. We exchanged emails and whatsaps with the ppl we took pictures from in the street.

We spent 3 days in Havana, even though we would have loved to stay for months. We visited Habana Vieja, el Vedado and el Cerro. Without any pre-defined itinerary or plan, just walking, talking and taking pictures on the street.

You can see a few photos below from the three days. We will definitely be back. If you happen to come to Havana, i must strongly advice you to contact Alfonso and Chino. There is no one like them in Cuba, and probably none like them around the World!
